DO NOT FORGET ABOUT YOUR TEETH THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
The holiday season is always the busiest times of the year and usually is filled with hustle and bustle. There is so much to do. There are people to see, gifts to buy and yes all those tasty sugary sweets to eat. Candy canes, peanut brittle, hard candies and nut filled delights are everywhere and far too convenient but you can make it through the holidays without causing any significant dental damage by taking a few precautionary measures.
- Schedule a pre holiday checkup
It is vital to your holiday enjoyment to take care of any existing issues prior to the holiday season. By doing so, you are not aggravating a preexisting sensitivity while you are indulging in your favorite holiday treat! For financial reasons, you may want to take advantage of any dental insurance coverage before it resets in the new year. Any money remaining will be lost if not used!
- Brush and floss more than you usually would
During the holidays we consume a lot more sugary treats and foods than usual. It is vital for us to clean our teeth much more regularly than we are used to. Sugary substances can begin to erode tooth enamel very quickly if left in place, so if we want to minimize the damage done to our teeth over the holiday season then we need to be more diligent with our brushing and flossing.
2. Don’t eat hard candies
I know we are all tempted to eat hard candies, during the holidays.
Just don’t do it!
The damage that will be caused to your tooth enamel can be extensive many times requiring an emergency trip to a 24 hour dentist for root canals and crowns to repair not to mention the excruciating pain of a chipped or cracked tooth.
